Iowa Business Outdistances the Nation's Top Phone Companies

Telegroup, a Fairfield-base phone company, earned top ratings in Money magazine's just-released study of long distance companies. Money 's July issue analyzes the rates of ten top long distance companies for U.S. calls, international calls and calling cards, and reports that Telegroup offers the best overall savings in most categories.
Alternative phone companies like Telegroup save callers a great deal of money over the Big Three long distance carriers, a Money editor told CBS after publishing the study.
"The Big Three spent $700 million on an advertising war that the customer ends up paying for," explains Fred Gratzon, Telegroup chairman and co-founder. "If you want to pay Candice Bergen's salary, be my guest. But at Telegroup, we think the money looks better in our customer's pockets."
