Telegroup Ranked Sixth Largest International Carrier by FCC
Fairfield, Iowa, October 29, 1996--Telegroup, Inc., once called "a blip on the radar screen," ranked the 6th largest international long distance carrier, according to a recent study by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC.)
According to the 1995 preliminary report, Telegroup, Inc. is the 6th largest provider of international services, following AT&T, MCI, Sprint, WorldCom, and Cable & Wireless."
"Our intelligent network has established Telegroup as a major player," said Telegroup President Cliff Rees. "This study reflects the great success of Telegroup's retail and wholesale divisions. "
The annual report evaluates carriers by the size of revenues and number of minutes billed to customers for international traffic originating in the United States. Telegroup billed 118,378,327 international minutes in 1995 for revenues of $102,970,425.
Telegroup offers U.S. and international long distance service, 800 service and calling cards with worldwide voice mail and fax service. Telegroup has customers in 162 countries, branch offices in 34 countries, a local work force of 443, and 2,000 sales agents worldwide.
